Customs Duty (2026 Update)

Important: the US ended its long-standing $800 duty-free "de minimis" exemption on 29 August 2025, and a February 2026 order confirmed it continues. US-bound parcels now go through customs entry and can owe duty at any value. Charges on small, genuine personal parcels are often modest, but they are no longer guaranteed to be zero. I'll give you a realistic estimate before you pay — see my full customs duty guide.

What Imports Smoothly

• Sealed/factory-packaged food in personal-use quantities
• Textiles and clothing (sarees, panjabi, etc.)
• Most personal-use medicines (FDA personal importation policy)
• Books, stationery, electronics
• Handicrafts and gifts

What's Restricted

• Controlled substances — narcotics, certain stimulants, opioids (will be seized)
• Fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy — strictly banned by USDA
• Some seed/plant material — requires permit
• Counterfeit goods — never an issue with my service (I source legitimate products only)

Customs Declaration

I always declare honestly. Falsified declarations risk seizure and a permanent flag on the recipient's name with CBP. A small, honest duty is always cheaper than the alternative — the cost of a false declaration is far higher.

FAQ for USA Customers

Will I have to pay customs duty on my order?

Possibly. Since the US removed its $800 duty-free exemption in August 2025, US parcels can attract duty at any value (typically 5-15% depending on item category, usually collected by the courier on delivery). Charges on small personal orders are often modest, and I'll estimate the likely cost before you pay. See my customs duty guide for details.

How long does shipping take from Dhaka to my US address?

DHL Express: 4-7 business days. FedEx: 5-8 days. Bangladesh Post EMS: 10-15 days. From inquiry to delivery, total time is typically 9-14 days including shopping and packaging.

Can you ship to a P.O. Box?

DHL and FedEx require a real street address. Bangladesh Post EMS sometimes delivers to P.O. Boxes but is slower. Strongly recommend a residential or office address.

What about returns if I don't like what arrived?

For high-value orders, I send photos and video before shipping so you approve exactly what's purchased. If something arrives damaged or different from approved photos, see my Refund Policy — generally I cover it. If you simply change your mind on an item that matched specifications, refund is harder since I've already paid the shop.
